What is the Difference Between CBD and THC?
If you know anything about CBD and THC, you know that they come from the same plant. Yet, one has legal and prescription concerns, while the other does not. Why is that? Let’s talk about the difference between CBD and THC and set the record straight.

The Properties of CBD and THC
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid. The chemical is naturally found in marijuana and hemp plants, though it does not come with the same type of “high” feelings that are typically associated with marijuana. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a different kind of cannabinoid but it does offer an induced “high” feeling. The reason for this primary difference is due to their molecular structure.
While they have the same amount of carbon atoms (21), hydrogen atoms (30), and oxygen atoms (2), the atoms are arranged in a different structure. This causes the pharmacological property differences. Both CBD and THC interact with your cannabinoid receptors, which plays a role in how neurotransmitters are released in your brain. This communication between the neurotransmitters and cells plays a role in pain management, stress relief, and sleep. The wellness benefits of both are being researched and well-documented.
Relief and Medicinal Use
CBD provides relief similar to marijuana. The only difference is that there is not a high feeling associated with CBD. CBD has anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, analgesic, antipsychotic, antiemetic effects. It is very helpful for pain and anxiety relief.
On the other hand, while THC is antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-tremor, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, it has an induced “high.” This can cause feelings of calmness, restfulness, and lowered anxiety. This high feeling can cause anxiety a paranoia in some, but CBD counteracts this by promoting alertness. THC usually makes people feel drowsy.
